Custom Hot Stamp Poker Chips

Hot stamped poker chips are our most popular customization. They have a foil stamp imprinted on the face of each chip. Each chip is processed through a hot stamp machine and a die is heated and under intense pressure pushes the foil into the poker chip permanently. The stamp can be on one side or both. It can also be different on each side if that is desired. We offer different chips on which custom stamps can be placed. These chips are the most affordable option of customization we offer. What they lack in customization, they make up for with affordability.

Below are some examples of custom hot stamped chips.

Custom Hot Stamp FAQs

Why would I want to customize my chips?

People customize their poker chips for a couple different reasons. First, customizing your chip set allows you to decide what your chips look and feel like. Being able to choose the makeup of the chips(ceramic, composite, clay) is important because it affects the feel and weight of the chip. Also, depending on which kind of customization you choose, you can make your chips look however you want. Second, it provides security to your home game or local tournament. Customized chips protect against people bringing in their own chips that match the standard chip sets many people have.

What is the advantage of custom hot stamps?

The main advantages of hot stamp chips are its inexpensiveness as well as its durability. The nature of the hot stamp requires a poker chip to be of a harder material. The main material in a composite chip is plastic with a weighted center. There are other materials added to the plastic to give it a casino feel, but the best hot stamp chips are made primarily from plastic. Hot stamp chips are the most durable and least expensive to make. Hot stamp chips are the easiest to design. Since you will only be working with foil being imprinted into the poker chip, it is limited to the amount of design you are able to accomplish. You can not have shading or fading of colors with hot stamp chips, unlike a custom inlay or ceramic chip design. You can’t have multiple colors and you will be limited to the color of the chip and the color of the foil. This limits the amount of artwork involved for a hot stamp poker chip. We do have stock letters to make words, so there may not be any design needed at all. We have many requests for just initials and denominations only.

Who creates the design?

You! At the very least you will tell us what you want the chips to look like. We offer artwork assistance in any phase of the chip design. You choose how involved you want to be in the process. You can design the entire chip yourself, or give us an idea and see what we come up with. Your level of involvement is up to you. The final say, of course, is always yours.

What can I customize on the chip?

First, you choose the type of chip you want. This will decide the weight, feel, and edge design of your set. You have a choice between the 5 types below. Once you have chosen your chip type, you then decide on your stamp. You can choose things like initials or denominations for no additional charge. If you would like a custom symbol(red lizard above), there will be an additional charge of $50 to create the custom die. You can also choose to have different stamps on each side of the chip(ex. $5 on 1 side, DML on the other). These stamps are available in the colors of red, gold, and silver.

What are these chips made of?

Hot Stamp Chips are made of various materials. Composite Chips are a mixture of clay earthen materials and plastic to make the chip very durable and hardened. Contrary to popular belief, no gaming chip going as far back as the 1950s has been 100% clay. Composite chips are made of a composition of materials more durable than clay alone. At least some percentage of these chips are from a material such as sand, calcium carbonate, chalk and/or clay. However, chips that are adequate for hot stamping have a larger percentage of plastic in its composition. The center of the chip has a metal disc underneath the composite to balance the chip and to give it the proper weight.

How much do the chips weigh?

These chips will weigh anywhere from 4 to 14 grams each depending on the chip design you choose. The weight for each chip is displayed in the image above.

How long will they last?

The average composite chip will last from 5-10 years, depending on game play. The chips themselves will last for decades, but the foil will wear out slowly over the years. You should expect at least 5-10 years of play with this set of poker chips.

Are these like casino chips?

Not as much as our other poker chips. The texture of hot stamp chips is harder and less gritty. The design on them is not as ornate. However, they are still great chips to play with and will make your games secure and fun.

How are these different than casino chips?

As mentioned above, hot stamp chips use more plastic in their composition. Therefore, like plastic, it is harder and not as soft or “sticky” as casino chips. They are very smooth, whereas a casino chip has more grit. Hot stamp chips are more durable and will not wear down like a clay poker chip. They will be the same shape after hundreds of hours of play, unlike a clay chip that will begin to round on the edges.

The design of a hot stamp chip will be less ornate than a casino chip that uses an inlay or a casino chip that is ceramic and the design is directly printed on the chip.

How much do they cost?

See the pricing above.

What does chip design cost?

We actually offer 30 minutes of free artwork for every $200 spent.

If this isn’t the chip for me, which one is?

These chips may not be right for everyone. Maybe you prefer the feel of a ceramic chip, or are looking for something a little more ornate. The next step up is the custom inlay and the next step up from that is the ceramic chip. The custom inlay features clay composite 8 gram chips - 14 gram chips that have a blank inlay onto which you can place your design. The ceramic chip is fully customizable.
